With weather slowly but surely improving over the next few weeks, it’s time to look ahead to summer beauty, and nails are central to so many upcoming collections. The simplest way of shedding winter is by opting for a bright, punchy nail colour, so here are some essentials to check out!
The colours found in butterfly wings inspired Chanel’s Summer 2013 collection, dubbed L’Été Papillon de Chanel. The beauty collection itself is actually substantial in size, and it’s no surprise to anyone that the brand has created three polishes that are already in high demand even though they have yet to launch.
Shown below is Chanel Le Vernis in Azure (a metallic teal), Bel-Argus (a metallic blue) and Lilis (a vibrant coral). The metallic shades from this particular collection are incredibly dimensional with glass-like reflection, and are definitely not to be missed!
There are two mini polish duos from Dior, which is customary for their summer collections. The first of the two coordinated pairings is called Bahlia, which is a teal green and mid-tone pink. The second duo is dubbed Samba, which is a mint green and a metallic peacock green. The metallic shade in Samba is the winner of the nail shades in this collection, featuring a hint of duo-chromatic appeal.
YSL has introduced a gradient topcoat concept, La Laque Couture Tie and Dye, this season that adds a dose of shimmery iridescence to any polish, or can be worn solo for a sheer wash of shimmery colour. Each bottle contains three phases: sparkle, sheer colour and clear gloss. YSL La Laque Couture Tie and Dye comes in four shades: Cool Coat (coral), Pop Coat (pink), Hip Coat (purple), and Ice Coat (blue).

Miyuki joined the OverCat Communications team to usher in new spring launches from Estée Lauder. Here are some designs she whipped up with shades from the Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer range!
The design above is Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Blue Blood” applied all over the nail with Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Caviar” applied to a portion of each nail in a curved shape. The result is an extremely subtle and understated design that is ideal for anyone who is opposed to loud nail art.
Shown above is Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Blue Blood” with a new shade in the half-moons, which is Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Narcissist”, followed by Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Caviar” with “Coral Cult” half-moons, which are happy marriages between winter and spring shades unified by the half-moon manicure concept!
The last design shown above is Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Viper” on all nails with Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in “Chaos” used in addition to “Viper” for an accent nail design, also ideal for nail art-phobes!
