We had the continued privilege of working with Lucian Matis to create the nail looks for the designer’s FW2013 runway show for Toronto Fashion Week. Leeanne Colley worked closely with Matis to create two nail looks that were both clean and extremely geometric to complement Matis’ highly monochromatic fall collection.
The first look was inspired by the traditional French manicure, but was interpreted as the outline of an exaggerated French manicure, including the half-moon shape at the base of the nail. The base was a winter white shade that was created by layering Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in “Spirit”, a white with a touch of warmth, with Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel in “Porcelain”, a light cream shade. The outline of the manicure was done with Revlon Nail Enamel in “Iconic”, a deep charcoal shade.
The second nail look was inspired by the collection and the way in which different textures merged with one another. A leather effect was created by sponging Revlon Nail Enamel in “Iconic” and “Timeless” (a mid-tone grey shade). The outer thirds of the nails were then painted with Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in “Spirit” and Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel in “Porcelain” (available in May 2013) to create the winter white shade used in the first nail look. The contrast of this nail look captures the mixture of textiles in Matis’ collection.
The beauty look was created by none other than Gucci Westman, Revlon’s Global Artistic Director. The look was heavily inspired by German supermodel Veruschka, who was seldom seen without a defined crease on her eyelids, usually in tones of khaki. The star products for the beauty look were Revlon PhotoReady Primer + Shadow in “Pop Art”, a palette that included the gorgeous iridescent green shadow that was central to the eye look, and Revlon PhotoReady SkinLights (launching in May 2013), a once-discontinued-but-soon-to-be-relaunched illuminator that was reformulated to bring light to the skin minus the chunky shimmer. Plenty to look forward to in the spring season on the beauty front, and even more to look forward to in the fall with Lucian Matis‘ fall 2013 collection that absolutely raised the standard for Toronto Fashion Week!
