While this is an unprecedented & precarious time for our industry, we remain healthy and happy. As you all know, we’ve always been diligent in adhering to Toronto Public Health and Safety Standards. With much pride we take responsibility in providing you with a safe, sanitary and inviting salon.
We are excited to show you the changes we’ve made as well as the extra steps we’ve implemented to ensure that you as well as ourselves remain safe and healthy during your visit. Our official reopening date (coming soon)!
You will notice we have made many changes.
We have removed all furniture that cannot be used at this time to maintain physical distancing, lots of protocol signage, tools are prepackaged, hand wash/sanitizer stations throughout the salons, we have added additional sanitation time between guests and much smaller teams working together. Don’t worry! No one is missing! In order to maintain social distancing, we can only have a small amount of team members together at one time.
Wearing a mask will be required before entering the salon (scarves and bandanas are not considered appropriate facial coverings).
We will confirm with you upon your arrival that you are feeling healthy, no fever, cough or difficulty with breathing.
Your temperature will be taken when you arrive with a contactless infrared thermometer. This will also apply to all of our team members. They too will have their temperatures checked upon arriving for their shift.
We will send you link to our digital pre-screening / waiver ahead of every appointment, this must be filled out and signed (each visit) as it is required in order to enter.
We will ask you these questions once again in person as well as take your temperature. This information will be kept on site in the event that Toronto Public Health requires this information.
Your health and safety are an absolute priority for us. If you have a temperature or exhibiting any symptoms, then we will be happy to reschedule your appointment without penalty.
Due to strict, required appointment spacing, we will not be able to accommodate late arrivals. If by chance, you arrive late for your appointment, it will mean that we will have to reschedule another time and day so that we have not gone over our maximum capacity allowed. We ask that you call to reschedule, this cannot be done in the salon.
Clients are asked to wait outside of the salon maintaining physical distancing of 2 meters until notified by a staff member that you may enter. We ask that you arrive 5 minutes ahead of your appointment.
Please follow directions closely and read all posted front door signage prior to entering as a waiting area will no longer be available. We have had to add additional sanitation time between services so that we may continue to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our valued guests as well as our team members.
It is mandatory that you receive your service wearing a mask as well for your entire stay with us. Your mask must cover your nose, mouth and chin at all times. Please make sure your mask fits you appropriately and that there is no need for you to adjust it during your service. Please wear one as we will have limited quantities available for $2.00 each. Everyone working will be wearing a mask as well as a face shield.
When entering we ask that you sanitize your hands at our designated station. Prior to your service, you will then be ushered to the sink to wash your hands thoroughly and provided with a disinfected nail brush to scrub on top as well as under your nails. We will be washing our hands before and after each client as well as if we have to step away from our stations and upon return.
No food or outdoor drinks will be permitted inside the salon and at this time unfortunately we must refrain from offering any beverages.
Please come alone to your appointment. We cannot accommodate any additional guests. Based on our square footage we will be at our maximum capacity allowable by Toronto Public Health.
Your belongings will be placed in a personal bin that will remain beside you at all times, our manicure stations must remain free from any personal belongings, this includes cell phones. Please limit the number of bags you come in with as there will be no storage for extra shopping bags.
Some services will not be available to book for the time being, (facials, facial waxing and any services on the face) we have also had to limit some of the nail services that we have always offered (medium and advanced nail art as well as enhancement services) so that we can keep services to one hour at this time. If you have a broken nail, please inform upon booking so we can accommodate timing. We promise to let you know when the time comes to add these services.
If you are booked for a pedicure with regular polish, please bring flip flops to wear afterwards as we have a very limited amount of space for drying. Sandals that touch the toe area are not recommended because polish quite often will smudge when wearing them after a pedicure.
To minimize front desk interactions, prepare to pay for services and products with a wireless pin pad from your designated station or you are welcome to send us an e-transfer ahead of your service. Cash cannot be accepted at this time as form of payment for services or for gratuities. Prebooking will be done by phone or by email ahead of your appointment. If you would like to purchase gift cards, this can be done on our website and can be printed off or pre-ordered by phone or email.
At this time, we cannot take any appointment bookings from the front desk during your service in order to minimize interaction with our front desk team. We have also disabled online booking for the time being so we can closely monitor salon capacity. We appreciate your patience as phones and emails can be busy.
Our waiting areas have been removed and you’ll notice we have new, front desk podiums that are 6ft apart. Our front desk team will be busy pre-screening guests, taking temperatures and booking appointments by phone and email.
When your service is complete and we have accepted payment, one of our team members will walk you to the door so we can welcome in another guest. There will not be space available at this time to stay in the salon when your service is complete.
We acknowledge that these changes that may feel uncomfortable at first, but with your continued support and understanding, everyone will stay safe and these changes will allow us to remain open. We look forward to seeing you soon and can’t wait to catch up!
We are so grateful for your support and loyalty; this has been one heck of a time for everyone so a blast of positivity from your favourite place IS IN ORDER! Let’s DO THIS!
The Shoebox Project for Women in Shelters
The Shoebox Project for women in shelters is a way to brighten the holiday season for women living in shelters. Shoe boxes are wrapped, filled with little luxuries that may not be affordable for some of these women to splurge on during difficult times. They are then delivered to women’s shelters across Canada.
Last year, TIPS NAIL BAR teamed up with The Shoebox Project and offered our storefront as a Shoebox drop-off location. With our generous clients, neighbourhood friends as well as new friends, we were able to collect more than 200 shoeboxes for women in shelters.
This year, we will also be participating in this wonderful initiative. We would love more of these women to know that they haven’t been forgotten and they are loved!
Watch this feel-good video below and then read on if you would like to help!
